Dream Becomes Reality: A French Country Style Kitchen

For how many years have you been saying, “I’m going to renovate this kitchen”?

If you’re like most of us, that idea has crossed your mind more than once while living in your home. It’s common to make a “punch list” of things you can’t stand —and, must go. But somehow, life goes by and you live with things you “hated” despite their flaws.

Today, we’re sharing three kitchens of homeowners who decided to stop “putting-it-off”. These kitchens were custom built by our workshop for homeowners who did renos with real panache.

Kitchen Remodel #1: White Cabinets, Soapstone Countertops

This standard size kitchen is brought to new level with the addition of white French Country style cabinetry. The elegant details include upper cabinets reaching the 10ft. ceilings giving added visual height to the room. Natural light is reflected by the white finish, and repeated by the glass doors on the upper cabinets. The large center island anchors the room with its strong column base. It has room for seating three guests on the Paysanne Kitchen Stools for a quick meal at the kitchen counter.

The French Country doors and drawers feature bevel panels. The simplicity of the design adds elegance and timeless style. The drawers are highlighted with brushed nickel pulls with flat faces. The homeowners continued the hardwood flooring into the kitchen to create the illusion of more space and harmony between the eating and dining areas. The homeowner chose stainless steel appliances to offset the white finish and soapstone countertops.

The adjacent French Country dining area co-exists in elegant harmony with the kitchen.  The bold, round and beautiful 72″ pedestal dining table features a vintage wood top that adds rustic modern charm to the kitchen. Farmhouse Lath Back Dining Chairs add seating for 8 at the massive round table.  The table and chairs’ tastefully create a classic French farmhouse ambiance. The modern rustic wrought iron and industrial bulb chandelier lighting completes the relaxed dining area.

Kitchen Remodel #2: Espresso Cabinetry, White Stone Counters

It is becoming increasingly popular to mix wood tones in kitchen design. This elegant French Country Kitchen in Espresso is a perfect illustration of how mixing wood tones can create beautiful harmony.

The custom cabinets reach from floor to the ceiling to create more scale and a high-end design in the room. The large center island with vertical tongue and groove front panels anchors the open concept kitchen with ample workspace for cooking and prepping foods. A generous overhang allows for guests to sit and relax for an impromptu meal. Three French Country Ladderback Stools with hand-woven snowshoe seats add a classic French-style to the kitchen.

The refrigerator is hidden behind the door panels making the appliances seamless in the room. The white subway tile backsplash provides light, and a modern feel to the room. We think this is blended wood tone perfection!

Kitchen Remodel #3: Vintage Provencal Kitchen

We adore this modern take on a French Country Kitchen. The raw space was open to the rest of the house, and the homeowners wanted an open feel without the “heavy” look of upper cabinets.

The result is a vintage French style commonly found in farmhouse kitchens of Provence. The white cabinetry pairs well with the simple subway tile backsplash that runs horizontally from countertop to the ceiling. The large bank of windows are the emphasized by the orderly tile pattern. A furniture-like center island with a thick wood top  gives the kitchen a collected feel. The plank bench seats are bolted to the floor for permanence and heft. Simple clear glass shades with nautical rope pendants add crispness to the kitchen.

The base cabinetry has ample drawers that pull-out to see the contents. Pots, pans, plates and utensils can be cleanly stored and easily accessed within the drawers. The vintage wood floors and window trim works in harmony with the vintage wood kitchen island top. It’s clean, simple and lovely French Country kitchen.
